Arriving in Charleston the air is a bit chilly, and the locals are blaming my husband and I for bringing the cold from Mn.   Having left a nuisance snow this morning I will gladly except the 56 degrees and sunshine!

What a wonderful city this is, filled with amazing architecture, and surrounded by history involving the birthplace of America. It brings me warmth and a place of home. We take a history walking tour lead by Larry; this is off season, and it appears we are the only ones on the tour – how perfect!  It takes 1 ½ hours and we covered only 4 blocks, now that’s a lot of history!  We take in rooftop cocktails at Vendue and make sure to shop the market for Christmas gifts.

Craving to be on water we book an Eco Marsh Tour out to the lighthouse and once again find us on a private tour with naturalist Captain Tripp.  How fun being led through the marsh waters by dolphins swimming along side of us, feeding.  At the lighthouse island we get out to shell seek and check out the marooned sailing ship washed up on the shore.  It feels as if we are on the moon, all alone walking on the grey mud and broken seashells.   After the fresh air on the water, we visit the bar and restaurant on the water’s edge of the dock for a cocktail and fresh shrimp and she crab soup.   I expected back on this long dirt bumpy road for only locals to be here, but we were greeted with tourists from all over.  Word travels! Plan and keep the cell phone charged, because seems it can be hard to find an Uber ride back into the city, I love that traveling always brings an adventure with a great memory!

I love my Anniversary trips with my hubby and once again we picked a winner; Charleston is an easy place to land and immerse in, this city lives up to its reputation.
