It was time for a quick getaway,  year 2020 has dragged on and on.  A 4 day/3 night long weekend is what us girls needed and this trip to San Antonio would be a first visit for us all.

Of course the trip had to start with the airport 6:30 am Bloody Mary, followed by a morning nap on the plane.   Big shout out to Sun Country Airlines for upgrading our seats!

75 degrees and sunny will make any Minnesota girl happy in December,  we instantly fell in love with this city!  Our hotel the (Courtyard Marriott) on the Riverwalk was in a wonderful location and had a patio to enjoy our wine and eats while watching people pass.   On our first outing down the Riverwalk we took the recommendation from our concierge and headed for the Iron Cactus  for homemade margaritas, salsa and chips.  Ok, it was the best margarita I have ever had,  let us follow that up with another – George Clooney Skinny!  We shopped in the La Villita houses and purchased our worry dolls for future as no worries on this getaway. The evening river cruise with the Christmas lights, music and Santa were an absolute joy.

Visiting the Alamo and our walk about evening ghost tour gave us wonderful insight to this cities history.  Plan on a stay or visit to the Menger Hotel,  visit the bar – you may just see Teddy Roosevelt sitting on the bar stool!  I do have to say that each day brought us a new treasure:  The Royal Blue Market around the corner from our stay,  a  stroll north on the Riverwalk ( suggested by two  Louisiana girls celebrating birthdays )  to the Pearl District,  and its market with many local artisans, eats and music.  My purchase was hand lotion from Organically bath and beauty, AND Hello, Hotel Emma ( you are on my wish list ) step count this day was 18,000.  Yahoo!

Friends since elementary school deserve a long weekend getaway,  It gave us time to reconnect, laugh, cry, tell stories and remind each other how important good friendships truly are.  San Antonio provided us with wonderful memories, a city I know we will visit soon again!
