As I join the tour of Taliesin, I see a small group of tourist’s if not for the entire weekend, at the least this day, and I too am one of them.  Our guide with 20 years experience certainly has a passion for this Frank Lloyd Wright design and his past life.  I am watching the people, all mid western I

presume, since we speak, dress and look alike,  A mix of Germans and Norwegians.  We seem to have the same questions, the same ideas and even the same gestures as we walk this large expansion of space not only outside but inside. Our guide takes us to a place of years earlier where I can see family and guests arriving in horse drawn carriages for an evening gala after a hard days work in the fields and gardens.  The taste of fresh hand picked berries, the butter spread on the corn on the cob all enjoyed in the courtyard with conversation and music. I come back to our moment in time, funny, we are in the courtyard, enjoying tea and cookies and conversation. I am glad to see somethings do not change.

Weekend Getaway: Spring Green, Wi
If you are needing a weekend getaway that provides beautiful scenery, history and fun head to Spring Green, Wi.  On a recent visit from Minneapolis, my husband and I drove down scenic highway 61 and crossed the Mississippi into Lacrosse, wi.  From here it was  a short drive to Spring Green.  We checked into the Usonian Inn designed by Frank Lloyd Wrights apprentice (since we were in town for a tour of Frank Lloyd Wrights home, we thought this was appropriate). Spring Green is a quaint artists town with plenty to offer. The wonderful outdoor theater offer musical concerts and live theater all summer.
You can visit the web for the American Theater Players  schedule and advance tickets. (Americanplayers.org).  The Arcadia book Store and Nina’s

Department and variety store provide small town charm and bring back the days of sidewalk shopping and browsing.  While in town take in a tour of the House on the rock and The Taliesen, Frank Lloyds Wright home.  Both tours offer wonderful views and take you back into a time long gone. If your not the tour type, there is plenty of  camping, biking,  local wineries and antique shops. Spring Green has something to offer for everyone, young or old. There is so much here to take in, you may just want to plan an extended weekend!
