Sometimes after a long cold winter all one needs is a short escape with friends, Savannah was my perfect escape with two longtime girlfriends for an extended weekend.  Our journey began with a short non stop flight via Sun Country Airlines which runs seasonal service into Savannah, a quick Uber ride into the historic district, our hotel The Bohemian Riverfront which is part of the Marriott Autograph Collection already had us checked in and upon arrival the bellman handed us our room key.  This hotel is a gem with a unique collection of art which sometimes borders on quirky!  The rooftop bar Rocks on the River, really does rock on the river and is the perfect way to end your evening.  We felt blessed as the moon lit the river and the warm breezes blew, it was the perfect pairing with our wine.

The next day we jumped on the Hop-On Hop-Off bus which I highly recommend for all first time visitors.  Our guide made the ride so enjoyable as she shared points of interest with humor.  We hopped off at Cathedral of St John The Baptist which was built in the late 1870’s to admire the stained glass windows, murals and towering steeples. We strolled down Jones Street which is said to be the prettiest street in Savannah ( I agree ) before heading to our lunch at The Olde Pink House.  The She Crab Soup is delicious!  You will need advance reservations for dining,  but you will not want to miss the Southern cuisine in this elegant mansion.  The afternoon was spent strolling the shops along the riverfront, a mama dolphin and her baby were strolling with us albeit in the water.  The evening brought Blues and Gospel as we were fortunate to score last minute tickets to the final concert of the Savannah Music Festival,  needless to say the music had us all on our feet and hands clapping while the roof was being rocked off at the Lucas Theater.

Day 2:  We had booked a trip to Tybee Island via Viator.   Our guide picked us up at the hotel and we were joined by others visiting Savannah –  who would have guessed that they would be fellow Minnesotans!  We spent the day touring Fort Pulaski, Tybee Island Lighthouse, eating and walking the beach, relaxing at the pier.  It was perfect!

Day 3: We packed up and headed to the airport for the late morning flight,  this day arrived to soon and our time in Savannah would be another travel moment off of our checklist shared by friends.
